One of nine pieces in the “Sink to the Bottom of the City” series. Inspired by the Great East Japan Earthquake, Ohtsuki drew a series of images where something new is born from earth that has lost its city. She connects the image of a butterfly emerging from its pupa with the growth of a girl and thus to the overarching theme of “rebirth”.
